The Power of Emotions. Germany 19 | 19 systematically meets the need for a historical and political educational project that is relevant to the present day. Poignant texts, around 140 historical photos and facsimiles and accompanying multimedia content prompt viewers to face up to the power of emotions in the past and present. Emotions, so the theory goes, were the driving force behind political and social reform and democratisation processes. But they were also continuously the subject of political instrumentalisation and manipulation, especially by the political extremists of the 20th century.

Several thousand copies of the exhibition will be made available across Germany in 2019 for use in schools and non-formal education settings. It is the ideal medium to encourage individuals in schools and public places – in town halls, adult education centres, public libraries and churches – to face up to the challenges of the present day bravely and judiciously, with an awareness of past history. The exhibition is made up of 22 panels and can be ordered as a poster set in DIN A1 format for a fee of €30. Foreign-language versions are also available for German cultural activities in other countries. Go to order form
